My friend Robb Buckland posted on his FaceBook profile a great truth:

I’ve come to embrace the notion that I haven’t done enough in my life. I’ve come to confirm that one’s title, even a title like master or sensei, says very little about how well one’s life has been led. No matter how much you’ve done or how successful you’ve been, there’s always more to do, always more to learn, and always more to achieve.

Will Atlas Ever Shrug?

There is going to finally be a movie, a feature length film, based on the book Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It is to be released 4/15/11 , ironically and appropriately on “tax day.” No mention of this in the mainstream media… I wonder why?

Setting Appointments, Selling, or Building Relationships on the Phone

The mindset of the masses is that the telephone is a great tool for communicating with each other. The business professional has a narrower viewpoint and uses the phone for business purposes. There are a few basic philosophies that should guide the business on how they use the telephone. Day to day, it may vary, but most organizations will benefit by having a base-line policy of what the phone is for, and every conversation should move toward a goal.

* Is the phone for setting appointments only, and nothing else?

* Is it for building relationships?

* Are we expecting to close a sale on every call?

* Is the phone for gathering information?

What is your policy toward the phone? Is every call and purpose for the call scripted, or is there at least a track to run on? Make this a place to share some tips and techniques for phone management so comment, and comment on the comments.
